Fundraiser For Boy Labelled "Medical Conundrum"

The community is pulling together to help a Windsor teacher and her infant son who suffers from a rare condition that affects his joints, and seizures from a brain disorder.

Cliff Borland, who is just 20-months old, was diagnosed with Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita, which occurs when two or more joints are stuck in one position before birth. Cliff suffers from clubbed feet, twisted fingers, displaced hips, a wry neck, and curvature of the spine. In addition to seizures, the brain disorder also causes intellectual disability and feeding difficulties.

His mother, Rosemary Borland, has been teaching music at Northwood Public School for the past 12 years. She is a single mother raising Cliff and his five-year-old sister on one income.

Borland struggles with medical costs including the need for a wheelchair. She often travels to the London Health Sciences Centre for appointments with Cliff's seven different specialists. In addition to surgery in Cliff's future, her home will need renovations to accommodate a severely disabled child.

In response, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help her with ongoing costs of caring for Cliff. There is also a raffle, bake sale, and pasta dinner on November 21 at The Gathering Church on Columbus Ave. near Northwood Ave.
