Windsor man accused of violent rampage

A Windsor man has been charged with several offences after what police are calling several unprovoked attacks near downtown Windsor during broad daylight.

According to police, a 24-year-old man assaulted three men near Caesars Windsor on Saturday afternoon. A 71-year-old man was stabbed and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Police said the victim defended himself with a gardening tool by striking the aggressor and injuring him. The injured and extremely agitated suspect allegedly approached officers on foot when they arrived, acting in an aggressive manner and not obeying officer commands. That's when he was tasered and placed in handcuffs. The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the suspect had allegedly been involved in two more unprovoked assaults earlier. Investigators said a 63-year-old male parking lot attendant at Glengarry Avenue and University Avenue was assaulted and a 50-year-old man was repeatedly hit with a lampshade in his home at Aylmer Avenue and University Avenue.

Jonathan Beck, 24, from Windsor is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, assault, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, unlawfully in a dwelling, mischief, property damage, three counts of breach of probation and breach of recognizance.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
