Mail carriers taking part in rotating strikes at Canada Post are getting a boost today at a rally at the postal office in Tecumseh.
The rotating strikes have hit two Windsor-Essex communities so far, Windsor on October 22 and Amherstburg earlier this week on November 6.
More than 100 communities have experienced work stoppages across the country so far as mail carriers fight for a new contract.
Canada Post has offered to improve wages, benefits, and job security. It has not budged on the Canadian Union of Postal Workers demand of pay equity for rural and suburban mail carriers.
Thursday's rally will focus on "Delivering Community Power", the union's vision to re-invent postal offices into community hubs that offer new services including banking.
The list of speakers includes Phil Lyons, the president of CUPW's Windsor local, Mark Bartlett of Unifor Local 444's environment committee, and Ken Lewenza Jr., who works for Unifor and is a former Windsor city councillor.
The rally starts at 10 a.m. and is expected to wrap up at 2 p.m.
