Public input sought on Windsor's master sewer plan (VIDEO)

Do you have questions on what the city of Windsor is doing to upgrade its sewer system?

With a massive multi-year operation underway to improve drainage and reduce the risk of flooding, the city has invited the public to give input on what is included in the plan. The Sewer Master Plan is part of an ambitious eight-part initiative introduced in the fall of 2017 by Mayor Drew Dilkens following a torrential rainfall that caused severe flooding in the city's east end.

The public is invited to one of three information sessions, during which the plan will be presented, and potential solutions will be discussed. The city said feedback from residents would help fine-tune and complete the master plan.

The information sessions are scheduled for as follows:

  • Tuesday, February 11 - 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Roseland Golf and Curling Club
  • Wednesday, February 12 - 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. - WFCU Centre, Michigan Room
  • Thursday, February 13 - 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre, Lower East Atrium
The information sessions are designed for residents who have experienced flooding in the past or would like to learn more about how to protect their properties from flooding. Information will also be provided on what Windsor is doing to reduce the risk and the measures being laid out in the master plan.

A video has been produced, with city engineer Mark Winterton providing an update on what has been done so far. For additional information, visit the master plan page on the city's official website.
