Windsor, Leamington to begin 2020 spay-neuter programs

Two local communities will soon have options for residents to have Fifi or Socks spayed or neutered.

Beginning the first week of March, the Municipality of Leamington and the City of Windsor will offer a spay-neuter voucher program for cat lovers in both communities.

Leamington will begin its program on Monday, March 2. The municipality will have 80 vouchers available on a first-come, first-served basis, and is reserving them for low-income families. To receive a voucher, residents must show proof of household income. Households in Leamington are limited to three vouchers.

Feral cat caregivers in Leamington are also eligible for a maximum of three vouchers per household, with no income restrictions.

Windsor will start its program on Tuesday, March 3, and issue a total of 260 vouchers at a value of $75 each. The city is also reserving coupons for low-income families with documentation of household income needed, and only two per household will be allowed.

In Windsor, feral cat caregivers will also be eligible for two vouchers with no income restrictions.

Leamington residents can pick up applications starting March 2 at the Leamington Municipal Building, or go online.

Windsor residents can obtain vouchers through the 311 call service no earlier than 10 a.m. March 3. Those who qualify will receive their vouchers by mail.
