The Greater Essex County District School Board says it will need more time to get ready for remote learning.
This past Monday, Education Minister Stephen Lecce announced all schools would move to online, teacher-led learning after the Spring Break.
Instead of class this coming Monday, parents can expect a call from their child's teacher. The school board said the teacher would ensure students are ready for online learning to start on Tuesday, access technical needs, and provide students with work to complete independently.
If your child needs technology to participate, parents or guardians are asked to contact the school directly.
Elementary school students will follow the start and end times established during in-class learning.
For secondary school students, the first period will run 150 minutes, starting at the regular school start time.
Those students who are already learning remotely will see no change in their schedule on Tuesday.
Students with special needs registered for in-person learning in the GAINS and STEPS programs will return to school Tuesday morning. A staff member will call their parents or guardians on Monday to discuss the schedule and transportation. Those students will also have to complete and pass a COVID-19 self-screening assessment before attending school each morning.
Lecce has not set a date for a return to in-class instruction.
