NDP candidate announced for next provincial election

NDP leader Andrea Horwath welcomed Gemma Grey-Hall to her team during a visit to Windsor Wednesday.

"I’m thrilled that Gemma has stepped forward to run for the NDP. Gemma’s business savvy and community leadership will be assets as New Democrats fight to fix education and health care and rebuild an economy that works for everyday folks,” said Horwath.

Grey-Hall will replace NDP MPP Percy Hatfield as the candidate for Windsor-Tecumseh in the next provincial election in 2022.

"It's a complete honour to follow in Percy's footsteps and I am ready to serve the great people of Windsor-Tecumseh," said Grey-Hall.

Hatfield announced last week that he would not run in the 2022 election. He served over two terms as a provincial member of parliament. He was first elected in 2013 by-election.

Grey-Hall is a certified fundraising professional, a community leader and women's advocate.

"I think my reputation as being a leader in the community and advocate for women's rights is what has brought me to this particular point and I'm excited to represent the people of Windsor-Tecumseh," said Grey-Hall

Grey-Hall will be acclaimed as the candidate at a meeting on August 19.
