Windsor police have arrested a 40-year-old woman after an investigation uncovered a drug trafficking operation.
The Drugs and Guns (DIGS) Unit began a probe of suspected drug sales last week. During the investigation, investigators were able to identify a suspect, vehicle, and residence connected to the operation.
The suspect was spotted Tuesday driving in the area of Sandwich Street near Mill Street. Officers approached the vehicle in a parking lot. After being told she was under arrest, the woman allegedly put the vehicle in reverse and hit a police cruiser. There was minor damage to both vehicles but no one was hurt, and the driver was arrested.
Police searched the vehicle and found quantities of various drugs and currency. It was also determined that the driver was operating with a suspended licence.
The woman has been charged with eight counts of drug possession with intent to sell. The drugs, which included methamphetamine, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, oxycodone, clonazepam, alprazolam, and lorazepam, were valued at $5,100.
The charges have not been proven in court.
