Labour rally planned for downtown Windsor this weekend

The Ontario Federation of Labour plans to hold rallies in 20 Ontario cities, including Windsor, on Sunday, International Workers' Day.

The federation of labour unions has a list of demands for provincial party leaders as they head out on their election campaigns.

On the list of demands, a $20 minimum wage, permanent paid sick days, affordable housing, and the repeal of Bill 124, which froze pay increases for public servants to one per cent a year.

The other issues are less specific and include climate justice, an end to racism and oppression, and decent work.

In Windsor, the rally starts at 1 p.m. at Charles Clark Square downtown and should wrap up by 3 p.m.

The federation said after four years of what it calls attacks on workers and two years of a pandemic that revealed deep cracks in public services, it is time for provincial party leaders to act.

More than a dozen "issue-specific feeder marches" will culminate at Queen's Park in Toronto for a rally.
