Young driver caught doing 133 km/h in Tecumseh

A young man's need for speed has resulted in him walking for at least a month.

An Ontario Provincial Police patrol officer was working on Concession Road 11 in Tecumseh on Tuesday, when they spotted a speeding vehicle. It was clocked at 133 kilometres per hour in a 60 km/h zone.

Under Ontario's stunt driving law, which was updated in April, the 20-year-old man now has his driver's licence suspended for 30 days. His vehicle had also been impounded for 14 days.

"You can help keep everyone safe on the road by slowing down, or face the consequences of your actions," read a Facebook post from the OPP West Region.

The driver may also face a fine, demerit points, and be required to take a driver improvement course, according to the potential penalties provided by the province.
