Windsor, LaSalle parks close for improvements

Two parks in Windsor shuts down on Monday, while another in LaSalle closes its playground so improvements can get underway.

In Windsor, Riverdale Park closes so crews can replace the multi-use trails, benches, and garbage bins.

The park in Ward 6 won't reopen until the end of July.

"It is a welcome upgrade for the neighbourhood and will undoubtedly offer quiet enjoyment for many," said Ward 6 City Councillor Jo-Anne Gignac.

Gateway Park in Windsor also closes for trail improvements and isn't expected to reopen until the fall.

The playground at Meo Park in LaSalle also shuts down on Monday.

Crews will replace the pea stone base with engineered wood fibre so children and caregivers can move about the playground more easily.

The playground should reopen in two weeks.

The Town of LaSalle said Meo Park is the fourth and final park to be upgraded through a federal grant worth $100,000. The town contributed $54,000. The other three parks are Jim Chappus Park, Ojibway Oaks Park, and Paul Wilkinson Park.
