Cavalier repatriates manufacturing processes

Cavalier Tool & Manufacturing Ltd. has invested $15 million to expand product offerings and bring manufacturing processes closer to home.

The new machines make finished complex components that go to the moulds for other manufacturing processes.

"What we're showing off here, is the culmination of a nine-year journey in repatriating offshore work and building it right here in Windsor and Essex County," said Tim Galbraith, general manager of Cavalier Tool and Manufacturing. "I can tell you that 100 per cent of our complex components that we used to build in low-cost countries are now manufactured right here."

The expansion is expected to create 30 new jobs.

The Ontario government supported the investment with $2.25 million through the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness stream of its Regional Development Program.

“We continue to grow our automotive supply chain by creating the right conditions for local manufacturers like Cavalier Tool & Manufacturing to invest,” said Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade.
