Art Windsor-Essex (AWE) will expand its programming for seniors, thanks to a donation from Caesars Windsor.
Caesars Cares, the casino's fundraising arm, has donated $10,000 to the art museum to create a seniors' council.
The council will be comprised of seniors from across Windsor-Essex, who will explore opportunities for skill-building, intergenerational learning, reducing social isolation, and enrichment through local art.
"This generous donation will support a program that helps seniors in our community to feel included, improve their well-being, and learn new skills," said AWE Executive Director Jennifer Matotek. "As we transform into a community-driven, person-centered art gallery for the 21st century, AWE is delighted to present programs like this that use the power of art to promote inclusion and support mental health and wellness through creatively, intellectually, and socially engaging activities."
The donation is the latest from Caesars Cares to community projects.
"Social integration is an important part of our happiness and health," said Caesars Windsor Vice-President of Marketing and Resort Operations Mary Riley. "We are proud to support Art Windsor-Essex with this donation to provide seniors with activities to learn new skills and access a fantastic arts experience."
