Teen driver nabbed for stunt driving

The need for speed has gotten one 18-year-old driver into a lot of trouble.

Few details are available, but an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer clocked the driver going 150 kilometres per hour on Sunday.

The driver from Leamington was cited for speed driving. Their vehicle was towed and will be impounded.

According to the Highway Traffic Act, driving 50 kilometres per hour over the speed limit is considered stunt driving, or 40 kilometres per hour over the limit on a road with a posted 80 kilometre per hour limit or less.

Penalties for being found guilty of stunt driving include up to six demerit points on your driver's licence, an impounded vehicle, and-or hundreds of dollars in fines.
