Amherstburg to present draft official plan to the public (Video)

Amherstburg is ready to show the public its draft official plan guiding growth for the next two decades.

The public can get a look on Tuesday at the Libro Centre between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The plan will guide municipal policy through to 2046.

"This new plan will not only build on the policies and goals outlined in the current plan, but will also address the impacts of a changing climate and economy, and the shifting needs of all those who live, work and visit Amherstburg," said a release from the town.

It will cover natural heritage preservation, economic development goals, and land use.

"The updated official plan will shape the future of Amherstburg, ensuring a healthy, resilient, and vibrant community for generations to come," said Deputy Mayor Chris Gibb.

The town also plans to review its zoning bylaws to ensure they meet the business community and resident needs.

Amherstburg held its first public meeting and resident survey last summer.

There will be a future public meeting on the final plan before presentation to town councillors.
