OPP warn drivers of increased traffic during Hogs for Hospice

Traffic in and around Leamington could be a challenge this weekend when thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts arrive for the Hogs for Hospice Motorcycle Rally.

The three-day event starts on Friday and raises money for the Erie Shores Hospice. It's become one of the biggest fundraisers for hospice since it launched in 2016. Two years ago, it raised over $1-million.

The Ontario Provincial Police ask drivers to expect more traffic and delays on Leamington roads.

"Exercise caution and be mindful of increased motorcycle traffic," read a statement from the OPP. "Taking a little more time while making manoeuvres such as signalling turns, and checking mirrors and blind spots is highly encouraged. These safe driving practices will help prevent unnecessary collisions and increase road safety for everyone.

The OPP will step up enforcement during the event.

Organizers announced the entertainment lineup in March. Country artist Justin Moore and rock legends the Stone Temple Pilots were named headliners.
