Residents staying in the Matthew House are a lot more comfortable thanks to a donation from Absolute Comfort Control Services.
The refugee welcome centre was in desperate need of new air conditioning units when three of their four units went down last month.
"In each of those shared living units we have 18-24 men, women and children and when you can't sleep at night because it's so hot, when you can't sleep during the day because it's even hotter, that effects your mental health, that effects your ability to work" said Morency. "It's crucial not just for comfort but for people to be able to function and successfully rebuild their lives. And that's our goal, is to see them quickly get re-established with their lives here in Canada."
Absolute Comfort replaced two of the units and fixed another at a deeply discounted rate.
"This is a family run company. My dad started this 20 years ago and all of us live here in Forest Glade so this is something that we drive by every day on our way to work. It's important that we take care of our own community," said Andrew Hazzard, Operations Manager with Absolute Comfort.
Matthew House has already raised $8,000 to pay for the units and is still looking to raise another $15,000.
Absolute Comfort's staff hosted a charity BBQ on site Wednesday afternoon to help raise a portion of the funds.
