City celebrates $10.3-million spent on municipal parks since 2021

Windsor's Mayor and Ward 10 councillor, at the scene of the city's latest new playground on Monday, marked a $10.3-million investment in 34 municipal parks since 2021.

Drew Dilkens and Jim Morrison highlighted the expenditure while unveiling the new $350,000 playground in South Cameron Woodlot Park.

Plans to revitalize the park were unveiled over two years ago.

Work in South Cameron Woodlot Park isn't quite complete.

Ojibway Street still needs to be resurfaced in front of the playground. That starts in mid-September while work continues on the South Cameron Trail Plan.

Approved in February, the city allocated $2.6-million to install an asphalt trail, solar lighting, and a limestone and boardwalk trail in four phases.

"I am thrilled about the recent improvements made to the South Cameron Woodlot Park," said Morrison. "Residents are excited about future plans to upgrade the trail system."

The City of Windsor's ten-year capital plan will invest more than $184.5-million in parks, arenas, and other recreational amenities.
