Windsor residents to pay less on water bills next year

The City of Windsor is changing its stormwater rate to save most residents money.

Starting January 1, 2025 residents will see a new line item on their Enwin bill. This is not a new fee but will reflect the new way of calculating the stormwater fee.

The stormwater rate will be calculated by the amount of impervious areas on a property, essentially the hard surfaces where rainwater cannot be absorbed.

"Most residential homeowners, 99.99 per cent of homeowners in this city, will see a net decrease in their Enwin bill once we implement this system because companies like Costco and Home Depot who have large parking lots will now be paying their fair share," said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.

On average, residents will be paying between $73 and $5 less a year.

Most small to medium-sized businesses will also realize some savings.
