Dowie acclaimed as Windsor-Tecumseh PC candidate

The Ontario PC Party did not have to do much to name its candidate in the next provincial election.

Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie has been easily acclaimed as the party's choice to run in the next election.

"This community means everything to me, and I am fully committed to delivering on our shared priorities, supporting good jobs, strengthening healthcare, and building the infrastructure we need for the future," said Dowie in a media release. "Together, we will continue to build a community that is vibrant, resilient, and full of opportunity for generations to come."

Premier Doug Ford said the acclamation of Dowie was a no-brainer.

"Andrew is a proven and dedicated voice for the people of Windsor-Tecumseh," said Ford. "He’s led the charge on building essential infrastructure, creating jobs in high-growth industries, and making healthcare more accessible. His commitment to making life more affordable by fighting the Liberal carbon tax, supporting new opportunities, and driving investment shows his dedication to this community. I have full confidence Andrew will keep delivering on the priorities that matter most to his constituents."

In 2022, Dowie was the first member of a Conservative party to be elected to represent the area at Queens Park in over 90 years. Previously, he had worked as a Tecumseh town councillor.

The next provincial election is not required to be held until the spring of 2026, as the PC Party holds a majority government. However, Ford has hinted at a possible early election call.
