Turkey giveaway and Salvation Army Christmas dinner on Wednesday

The Wyandotte Town Centre Business Improvement Association is giving away turkeys on Wednesday, while the Salvation Army serves up a Christmas dinner for the less fortunate.

"The Board of Directors is honoured and pleased to continue the tradition of a turkey giveaway to our community during the holiday season of sharing and togetherness," said Chair Larry Horwitz.

This year, the BIA asks those who want a turkey to reserve it online through its website. There are 150 available.

Horwitz said the reservation system ensures people aren't queuing outside during cold weather.

The limit is one turkey per family, and those who have reserved one should bring a bag on Wednesday when the turkeys are distributed at 3 p.m. at Al Sabeel Restaurant on Wyandotte Street East.

Meanwhile, the Salvation Army Windsor once again hosts its Community Christmas Dinner on Wednesday.

More than 750 guests are invited to enjoy a free turkey dinner with all the fixings at St. Clair Centre for the Arts.

Doors open at 5 p.m.
