Police investigate string of break-ins

Windsor police have arrested one suspect and are looking for three others in a string of commercial break-ins early Sunday.

Windsor police were called to four separate businesses Sunday after a vehicle rammed into the buildings. The incidents happened on Temple Drive, Etienne Boulevard, Walker Road, and Foster Avenue. No attempts were made to enter the premises in these cases.

A short time later, the same vehicle was used to break into a store on Walker Road near Cabana Road. At this location, four suspect used a crowbar to enter the store and various cannabis products were stolen.

Finally, a business on Cabana Road was broken into with a crowbar and cannabis items were stolen.

Members of the Windsor Police Target Base Unit started an investigation. Officers believe the initial four incidents were used as a diversion from the subsequent crimes.

Investigators identified a 54-year-old suspect who was arrested Thursday on Pillette Avenue. They were charged with break and enter, wearing a disguise to commit an offence, mischief, possession of break-in tools, possession of property obtained by crime, and breach of probation.

Descriptions of the remaining suspects have not been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Target Base Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4350. They can also contact Windsor & Essex County Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477(TIPS).
