OPP arrests four drivers over Family Day weekend

The long weekend kept Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers busy dealing with alleged impaired drivers.

Between late Friday night and early Sunday morning, police arrested four drivers on suspicion of impaired driving.

All of them have been charged with impaired driving and driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in the blood.

The first arrest was just before 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Valentine's Day. OPP officers from the Leamington detachment were conducting a RIDE program on Erie Street South. A 40-year-old man was arrested and faces a court date on February 27. 

The second was shortly after 2 a.m. on Saturday in Tecumseh. Police followed up on a complaint by another driver on Manning Road. A 33-year-old Lakeshore man has a court date of February 26.

The third incident was on Saturday night in Kingsville. OPP officers responded to a crash at around 11:30 p.m. A 39-year-old Leamington woman will be able to respond to her charges in court on February 28.

The fourth and final arrest was shortly before 2:30 a.m. Sunday in Lakeshore. A traffic stop was conducted on Broadway Street. A 45-year-old Lakeshore resident will appear in a Windsor court on February 26.

None of the charges have been proven in court.

All four drivers have had their licences suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles impounded for seven days.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
