A group of three workers at an Essex meat market, and a fourth who has retired, have won a $88,907 windfall playing Lotto 6/49.
Linda Fenton, Mary Ann Reaume, Rhonda Bonneau, and Sandra Brush started playing the lottery together five years ago when they all worked together.
Fenton recently broke the good news to her colleagues.
"It was a Sunday morning when I scanned our ticket on the OLG app and discovered we'd won," she said. "In shock and with shaky hands, I quickly began calling everyone to share the good news."
Reaume couldn't believe it at first, and Bonneau was shocked.
"We're so grateful," said Bonneau. It's kind of like finding out you're pregnant! You know you're having a baby, but it doesn't feel real until you're holding it. The best part is that we're going through this journey together."
Bonneau plans to use her share of the winnings to help her son pay for his wedding and travel to Europe. Sandra is planning a trip to Cuba next month.
"My 50th wedding anniversary is coming up soon, so my husband and I are planning a trip. We're thinking of visiting Ireland," said Reaume.
As of yet, Fenton doesn't have any big plans, but plans to treat herself sometime in the future.
"This is something the girls and I will talk about for years!" said Bonneau. "We can't wait to come back and collect a $50-million jackpot."
Fenton bought the winning ticket at Circle K on Talbot Street North in Essex.
