The Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) will invite people to an event next month to provide feedback on a new disc golf course.
ERCA's board of directors has already approved the course at the Holiday Beach Conservation Area in Amherstburg.
"The course is intended to be installed within existing mowed areas that are currently underutilized and used by some dog walkers or picnickers on weekends," said ERCA Conservation Services Director Kevin Money. "Creating the course will mean the addition of nine baskets and tee-signs through the already manicured section of the park that is identified as a recreational area within the management plan and compatible with existing activities."
The public meeting will gather additional input on the course.
"While adding this recreational amenity to the park already aligns with the Board-approved Holiday Beach Management Plan, we want to provide clarity about the scope of what this means for the conservation area," said Money.
The Windsor Essex Disc Golf Club approached ERCA about a course in the area. Designs have been submitted, and a sponsor has agreed to cover the estimated cost of $14,000.
The open house will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, at the Libro Centre in Amherstburg.
ERCA said Holiday Beach will open for the season on Saturday, April 26. Day use at the park is $12 per vehicle. A seasonal pass can be purchased for $80 plus the key fob deposit.
