After five years, the Windsor Public Library Book Mobile is back in action.
FRED 2.0, which stands for the Freedom to Read, Educate, and Discover, will be travelling throughout the community bringing library services like books and tech to parks, seniors homes, and festivals.
"It will be able to get out into the community, provide services to under served communities or areas in the city that might not have a library in close proximity. As well as to aid people that might have mobility or accessibility issues such as folks in retirement homes or people in long-term care," said Library CEO Jen Knight.
The original book mobile stopped operating in 2020 after some mechanical issues.
The book mobile schedule can be found on the Windsor Public Library's website.
"The collection on the book mobile is something that we can customize and we will be for each stop. So if we know that we're going to a spot where folks might want some French language books we'll make sure that the collection is augmented to have those sorts of items for people," said Knight.
The first stop of the book mobile was Captain Wilson Park in South Windsor, where the Early ON Child and Family Centre was holding its annual Teddy Bear Picnic.
