Windsor Police are holding the scene of a fire in the west end of the city for arson investigators after ten people were displaced.
The alarm was raised shortly after 5 p.m. Monday in the area of Campbell Avenue and College Avenue. When firefighters arrived, they saw flames coming from one vacant building. Eventually, three buildings were affected.
Multiple trucks were dispatched to the scene, including two aerial trucks.
Heavy smoke was seen in an area roughly bounded by Campbell Avenue, College Avenue, Grove Avenue, and McEwan Avenue.
There were no reports of injuries. The damage estimate is at $500,000 to the vacant structure and two neighbouring buildings.
The investigation was turned over to the Windsor police's Arson Unit, which determined that the fire was set on purpose.
A suspect was seen on the property shortly before fire broke out. He is described as an Asian male with a dark complexion and medium build, wearing an orange coat and hat. He was last seen fleeing the area on a bicycle.
Residents are asked to check any doorbell, dashcam, or security camera footage from late Monday afternoon.
