Man facing 44 charges after stolen vehicles recovered

Windsor police have arrested a 31-year-old man after discovering stolen vehicles and numerous items of personal identification.

Members of the Target Base Unit began their investigation on Monday, July 7, after a pickup truck with fraudulent Ontario licence plates was discovered. It matched the description of one reported stolen last month in Essex.

Police found themselves at a home on Cadillac Street near Tecumseh Road East, where the truck was found. Two additional vehicles were found on the property, along with a trailer that had been rented using fraudulent identification.

The suspect was found in one of the vehicles.

Searches of the vehicles uncovered numerous pieces of stolen personal information, including ID cards, cheques, insurance papers, and other documents.

The suspect is facing 44 charges, including the following.

  • 13 counts of personation

  • 13 counts of procuring to be made, possessing, transferring, or selling another person's identity document

  • Seven counts of possession of stolen property

  • Four counts of failure to comply with a release order

  • Two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000

  • Two counts of breach of probation

  • Obtaining identity information for a fraudulent offence

  • Fraud under $5,000

  • Uttering a forged document

The charges have not been proven in court.
