Windsor-Essex now has heat warnings from both Environment Canada and the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.
Windsor-Essex expects temperatures to hit 32 C with humidex values of 43 C on Monday and 32 C on Tuesday. The health unit issues a warning whenever daytime highs reach 31 °C on two or more consecutive days with a humidex of at least 42 °C.
The warnings are in effect until Tuesday night.
Environment Canada is confident cooler temperatures will move into the region on Wednesday.
"Everyone is at risk from heat, especially older adults, infants and young children, people who work or exercise in the heat, and those with certain medical conditions," said the health unit. "Warning signs of heat-related illness include dizziness, headache, nausea or vomiting, weakness, and confusion."
Environment Canada recommends drinking lots of water even if you don't feel thirsty, closing your blinds in your home, scheduling outdoor activities for cooler times of the day, and wearing lightweight, light-coloured clothing.
