Update: Second fire this week in Windsor deemed suspicious

Fire officials at the scene of a house fire in the west end of Windsor on Wednesday night have called in investigators from the Windsor Police Service Arson Unit.

Firefighters were called to a vacant duplex on Linwood Place on Wednesday night. Flames were shooting out of a second-floor window when they arrived.

Fire Prevention Officer John Smith told WindsorNewsToday.ca the fire started on the exterior of the second floor.

Early estimates suggest damage was between $40,000 and $50,000.

The fire was the third in the city this week, and the second deemed suspicious.

A fire on Monday at a business on Tecumseh Road East near Cadillac Street was also ruled suspicious. Windsor Police have released video of a suspect.

Police describe the man as middle-aged with a large build and an above-average height. He wore dark clothing, including a jacket, pants, and running shoes.

Meanwhile, a fire on Tuesday on Willistead Crescent is ruled accidental. Investigators believe it started in the bathroom ceiling. From there, it quickly spread to the attic and the roof. No one was home at the time, and the early damage estimate is around $500,000.
