Ward 2 voters in Windsor to elect new city councillor

It's Election Day in Windsor's Ward 2, where voters will cast a ballot to fill a vacancy on city council, going back to this past summer.

A total of 15 candidates are running to replace former Ward 2 Councillor Fabio Costante, who resigned to accept a position as the executive director of the Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation.

The 15 candidates are Nick Amlin, John Cutting, Michael DiPierdomencio, Frazier Fathers, Brian Green, Tecumseh MacGuigan, Ilene Muise, Christie Nelson, Jake Kelza Pollock, Sam Romano, Krystalynn Singh, Patrick Sutherland, Cynthia Ann Van Vrouwerff, Jun Wuyan, and Mo Zafar.

The winner will serve the rest of Costante's term, ending in November 2026.

The polls open at 10 a.m. on Monday and close at 8 p.m.

The city has opened seven polling stations located throughout Ward 2: Sandwich Teen Action Group on King Street, Mackenzie Hall on Sandwich Street, Canterbury College on University Avenue West, Campbell Baptist Church on Wyandotte Street West, University Community Church on Wyandotte Street West, Life After 50 on McEwan Avenue, and Malden Park Visitor Centre on Malden Road.

Voter notification cards were not issued for this election; however, residents are asked to bring their government photo identification.

Those who ride the bus to their polling station won't have to pay the fare. Riders simply need to inform the driver that they are going to vote.
