One taken to hospital in west end high-rise fire

The public might want to avoid Mill Street between Applewood Avenue and Elliott Street West, where firefighters are battling a high-rise fire.

Thirty firefighters responded to the fire on the sixth floor around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Windsor Police and paramedics were also called to the scene, and one occupant was taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile, fire crews were also called to a fire at a vacant home on Linwood Place on Monday night.

A fire on the front porch was extinguished quickly, but firefighters have already been called out to two recent fires there.

Fire officials ask anyone with information to call Windsor Police at 519-255-6700, Crime Stoppers at 519-969-5210 ext. 2111, or go to www.catchcrooks.com.
