Search for new deputy chief starting soon

The Windsor Police Service Board expects to name a new Deputy Police Chief in the next six months.

The position of Deputy Chief of Operations was left vacant after Jason Crowley was promoted to chief last month.

The board approved the creation of a recruitment committee at the board meeting on Thursday afternoon.

Board Chair Jo-Anne Gignac said the search will take on a similar format to the chief search.

"We'll encourage internal candidates to apply but we will be going outside as we have in the past," said Gignac.

Deputy Chief Karel DeGraaf will stay on as the Deputy Chief of Operational Support.
