OPP arrest two more suspected impaired drivers

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have reported additional arrests this past weekend in Essex County for suspected impaired driving.

In addition to the three reported in Lakeshore on Friday, officers arrested two more during the remainder of the weekend.

The first was at around 1 a.m. on Sunday at a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checkpoint on Division Street North in Kingsville.

A 20-year-old Kingsville man was tested for suspected impaired driving and was arrested for having an excessive blood-alcohol concentration.

The second arrest was soon after 2:30 a.m. on Monday, after OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on Talbot Street North in Leamington.

A 36-year-old Leamington woman was arrested and charged with impaired driving.

Both drivers have had their licences suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for seven days.

The charges have not been proven in court.

Both drivers will have a chance to respond to the charges in a Windsor court later this month.
