Windsor police have arrested an individual following a serious collision that left a woman with life-threatening injuries.
Police were called to a parking lot on Lillian Avenue just after 4 a.m. on Sunday, after receiving reports of an injured person. When officers arrived, they found a woman trapped beneath the tire of a white Chevrolet Equinox.
Emergency crews worked to free the woman from under the car and provide life-saving care at the scene. She was rushed to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
While speaking with the driver, officers say they noticed a strong smell of alcohol and other signs of impairment. The man was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters, where he later failed a breath test.
The driver, a 28-year-old man, has been charged with impaired operation causing bodily harm and impaired operation with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit causing bodily harm.
A second 28-year-old man who was also at the scene was arrested on an outstanding warrant for mischief under $5,000.
The investigation remains ongoing.
