After an exhilarating shootout, The Windsor Spitfires came out on top in their home game against the Flint Firebirds on Sunday evening.
The Firebirds kicked things off with a goal 7:36 into the first period, the only goal of the period.
The Spitfires evened things up, scoring their first goal of the night courtesy of Will Cuylle 1:40 into the second.
The Firebirds dominated the Spits for the remainder of the second, scoring five goals. Cuylle scored again at the 14:23 mark with Wyatt Johnston earing Windsor its third goal with just 55 seconds to go in the second.
After falling behind 6-3, the Spitfires turned things around in the third period with Cuylle scoring his third goal of the night at 4:51.
The Firebirds were unable to get their momentum back and Kyle McDonald scored twice for the Spitfires in the third, tying up the game and forcing the action into overtime.
After no scoring in overtime, the Spitfires capitalized in a shootout to earn the win.
The Spitfires will have the chance to earn their third victory in a row when they take on the London Knights at home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
