The golf coach at St. Clair College is being honoured for guiding the team to historic heights.
The Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association (CCAA) named Kevin Corriveau its Coach of the Year for the second straight year, at the National Golf Championship banquet held Tuesday night in King City.
"As a multiple winner of this award, Coach Corriveau's yearly dedication and passion for collegiate golf is evident both on and off the course," said CCAA Golf Convenor Bob Murray. "He has coached the Saints men's and women's teams to success this year and grown the sport collegiately in his conference and on the national scene."
Corriveau coaches both the men's and women's squads. The Saints' men's team won its first ever gold medal at this year's OCAA Championships. The women's team picked up a silver medal.
"Kevin is an outstanding coach but an even better person," said St. Clair College Co-Athletic Coordinator Jay Shewfelt. "His influence on the program and the broader community is unmatched. He continues to strive for success both on and off the course."
Corriveau's achievements this year were not limited to Windsor-Essex links. He also guided Team Canada to a silver medal at the 2024 FISU World University Golf Championships in Finland, Canada's best finish in ten years.
Off the course, Corriveau is heavily involved in helping new players develop their game skills, volunteering at clinics and junior golf camps. He is also a certified referee with Golf Ontario.
