Three goal third period helps Spitfires beat Brampton

A strong third period helped the Windsor Spitfires beat Brampton Sunday afternoon.

They hosted the Steelheads and ended up winning 5-2. The Spitfires have won two straight after back-to-back losses to Oshawa and Barrie.

The first period saw two goals from the Spitfires. Ryan Abraham got the scoring started with his 16th goal. Getting the assists were Jean-Christoph Lemieux and Tnias Mathurin.

The second goal came from Noah Morneau. His 15th of the year was helped by Luke McNamara and Mathurin.

Brampton fought back in the second period to tie the game. The two goals came from Lucas Karmiris and Carson Rehkopf.

The Spitfires regained the lead less than a minute into the third period when Ilya Protas scored a short-handed goal. Getting the only assist on his 31st goal was Liam Greentree.

Greentree later scored his 33rd goal of the season short-handed to double the lead. Mathurin got his third assist of the game while the second helper went to Protas.

Capping the scoring was Protas who found the back of the net for the second time in the game from Greentree and Carson Woodall.

With the Win, Windsor sees its record improve to 33-10-2-1, while Brampton moves to 19-17-8-0.

The Spitfires’ next game is on Thursday, January 30, at home against the Flint Firebirds.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
