It may be the Windsor Spitfires most impressive win of the season.
They hosted London Sunday night and won 4-3, coming back from a three nothing deficit.
London opened the scoring late in the first period. Denver Barkey and Kasper Halttunen each scored on the powerplay after back-to-back penalties by Jack Nesbitt and AJ Spellacy.
Jesse Nurmi extended London’s lead early in the second period. Spitfires’ goalie Joey Costanzo was pulled after this for Carter Froggett.
Shortly after, Noah Morneau kick started the comeback with his 16th goal. Getting the assists were Carson Woodall and Ryan Abraham.
Just before the end of the period, Iyla Protas would find the back of the net to cut the lead to one. His 33rd goal was assisted by Anthony Cristoforo and Ethan Belchetz.
Protas got his second goal of the game under a minute into the third period with Cristoforo and Nesbitt getting the helpers.
Cristoforo would take a tripping penalty a few minutes later, however, it would be Spellacy who found the back of the net. The shorthanded game-winning goal was his 13th of the year and assisted by Wyatt Kennedy.
Froggett saved all 13 shots he faced.
With the Win, Windsor sees its record improve to 34-11-2-1, while London moves to 38-8-1-0.
The Spitfires’ next game is on Wednesday, February 5, at home against the Saginaw Spirit.
