Lancers' men and women track & field teams win bronze at provincial championships

The University of Windsor's men and women track & field teams perfomed well at this year's Ontario University Athletics (OUA) championships.

Held over the weekend in Windsor, both teams ended up winning bronze medals.

A total of 17 individual medals were won by the two sides, earning each enough overall points to reach the podiums.

The Western Mustangs won the women's gold and men's silver, while the Guelph Gryphons won the men's gold and women's silver.

A.J. Stanat lead the way for the Lancer men, winning golds in the weight throw and shot put.

Ben Tilson also won two gold medals. The first was in the 600m race with the second coming in the 4x 400m race. Ryan Holly, Mohamad Alkaaby, and Noah Waldmann also won gold in the 4x 400m race.

On the women's side, Lancer's Jordana Badley-Costello set a new OUA record of 18.86m in the weight throw.

Mikalya May won a gold in long jump, Mandy Brunet came in first in the triple jump, and Madelyn Eybergen took home the top spot in the 3,000m race.

Up next for the Lancers is the U SPORTS track & field championships. Windsor will host the event from March 6-8, 2025 at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
