Bruce County to discuss purchasing Kincardine Paramedic Station

Bruce County is set to consider purchasing the long-serving Kincardine Paramedic Station.

The property owner, 392720 Ontario Limited, offered to sell the station for $738,000, prompting the county to begin negotiations. For 35 years, the 9,042-square-foot property at 369 Lambton Street has housed Bruce County Paramedic Services.

The station’s current lease expires in 2027, but officials decided to negotiate the acquisition rather than extending the lease or relocating the service.

The county plans to fund the purchase through a combination of internal financing and the Paramedic Services Capital Reserve, with a 50/50 split between the two sources. The reserve is projected to have a year-end balance of just over $1-million, allowing for the $368,000 needed for the purchase without affecting future capital projects. The remaining $368,000 will be repaid over a 10-year period.

The property, built in 1989, includes a 2,200-square-foot brick building and sits on a 0.21-acre lot.

Bruce County Council will make a final decision at its meeting on October 3, 2024. If approved, the purchase is expected to close on or before November 1, 2024.
