Hospital Confirms Chief Of Staff Departure

A top executive at Bluewater Health is no longer employed there.

In a brief email to BlackburnNews.com late Monday afternoon, the Chief of Communications and Public Affairs confirms that Dr. Mark Taylor is no longer with Bluewater Health.

Kim Bossy says the board of directors has appointed Dr. Michel Haddad as Interim Chief of Professional Staff.

Bossy says they're declining further comment because it's a personnel matter but she does add that the Public Hospital Act requires that hospitals have a chief of staff.

At Bluewater Health's regular board meeting in late November, a financial report to the end of September, six months into the fiscal year, projected a year-end deficit of $1.7-million.

It was indicated the organization hopes to mitigate the deficit by optimizing beds, roles and resources.

Dr. Taylor, as Chief of Professional Staff and Vice-President of Medical Affairs, was the highest paid employee at Bluewater Health in 2014, making over $330,000 as reported under The Public Salary Disclosure Act.

The new year brings new leadership at Bluewater Health.

Mike Lapaine officially takes over as CEO January 1, 2016 for the retiring Sue Denomy. The board expected Lapaine's former role as Vice-President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer would be filled early in the new year. Dr. Mark Taylor (File photo.)Dr. Mark Taylor (File photo.)
