Fallen Lambton OPP Officers Honoured

OPP have dedicated three bridges in Lambton County in memory of officers killed in the line of duty.

Constable William Rogers is being recognized with a bridge at the Oil Heritage Rd. overpass on Hwy 402. The 33-year-old was killed there on February 25, 1970 while directing traffic at the scene of a crash in a snowstorm.

Constables Randall Chatterson and Garry MacDonald, who were partners, were killed in a head-on crash while on patrol on May 2, 1975.

The bridge dedicated to Chatterson is on Hwy. 402 at Forest Rd. while tribute is paid to MacDonald on Hwy. 21 at the Ausable River overpass.

Memorial signs bearing the officers’ names and police service crest are posted on each side of the bridges named in their honour.
