Sarnia's C Squadron of the 1st Hussars is marking its 55th anniversary this weekend.
Spokesperson Todd Monaghan said special events include a meet and greet at the Confederation Street armouries Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and an open house Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"The open house will be run by the C Squadron unit itself," said Monaghan. "There will be some older style vehicles, some historic vehicles and obviously some of the new vehicles will be out. Soldiers will be running through some of their drills that they do, and that will give folks a chance to talk to the young soldiers and see what it's like belonging to a reserve unit."
There will be a parade from the Royal Canadian Legion on Front Street to the Cenotaph at 10 a.m. Sunday and a plaque dedication at the armoury Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
Monaghan said the plaque tells the story of 2 Troop C Squadron, led by Lt. Bill McCormack, that supported the Winnipeg Rifles in the taking of the French town of Creully on D-Day in 1944.
Roads will be closed Sunday for the regimental reunion parade. Front Street from George to Derby Lane, George Street from Front to Christina, Christina from George to Wellington, and Wellington from Christina to Victoria will be closed from 7 a.m. until 12 noon.
