Brewery coming soon to Point Edward

A sign has gone up at a Point Edward building to let residents know about a new brewery that's expected to open in the spring of 2022.

Brothers-in-law David Kruger, Scott Dunn, and Claudio Palleschi have teamed up to start Point Brewing Co.

Kruger said the idea to venture into this business together started a few years ago when Palleschi began brewing his own recipes at home. Kruger also mentioned that their families are excited that three men are "actually doing this."

"This is a family-owned, family-run business. We're not investors coming in, opening a brewery. We're doing this because we love it, we're passionate about it and we want to share it with people," said Palleschi.

Point Brewing Co. will be located at 705 Lite Street.

"The building itself has been around for quite a while," said Palleschi. "One of the original uses of that building is actually a beer store."

Dunn said they are currently in the process of ordering some equipment for the brewery and getting drawing plans in place.

"We're just working towards getting everything lined up for the day we actually take possession of the building, " said Dunn. "[There's] lots of work to do to get this place set up and ready to go. We're excited for November 1st when we can actually get in there and start doing some work."

Meantime, work is currently underway to create and perfect drink recipes.

"We really enjoy the aspect of creating recipes and actually making the beer and getting to try them, and share them with family and friends," said Kruger.

The co-owners said they plan to provide brews that satisfy the pallets of craft beer drinkers and those who enjoy a lighter option. They also plan to use fresh and locally sourced ingredients.

Point Brewing Co. will join an expanding list of craft breweries in Sarnia-Lambton, which Kruger refers to as a close-knit community.

"The brewing community is really collaborative and very inclusive. Everyone is excited for us and we're excited for them," he said. "You create really good friendships with the other businesses in town and it's really nice to see."

*Update: Point Brewing Company opened to the public on August 26, 2022. Further information about the brewery can be found through their Facebook page.
