Seven more COVID-19 deaths in Sarnia-Lambton

Lambton Public Health is reporting a spike in the number of COVID-19 deaths in the last week.

In its update Wednesday, the health unit said there have now been 162 deaths related to the virus in Sarnia-Lambton, up from 155 a week ago. Lambton Public Health said two of the individuals were linked to long-term care homes and five were in hospital settings.

Four of the deaths were individuals in their 80s, and the three others ranged in age from 60 to 79.

The health unit reported 142 new lab confirmed cases since its last update, for a daily average of 19 over the last seven days.

There are seven active outbreaks. The latest was declared on Monday at St. Joseph's Hospice.

At Bluewater Health, there are 10-COVID positive patients.

Police said the suspect rummaged through five unlocked vehicles on July 10 and stole items such as sunglasses, cosmetics, gift cards, loose change, and a wallet that contained debit and credit cards.

Criminal charges laid in April collision

On April 21 at around 4:40 a.m., a vehicle slammed into the traffic lights at the intersection of Finch Drive and Wellington Street and rolled, landing on its roof.
