A Sarnia man has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison, minus time served, in the death of an elderly man two-and-a-half years ago.
Jackson Henry was initially charged with second degree murder in September of 2020 in the death of 76-year-old Jim Wilson.
Henry, who was 21 at the time, was sentenced to 18 additional months in jail, 34 months total, in the Sarnia courthouse last Friday after pleading guilty to a charge of manslaughter last summer.
Wilson owned and operated Cowboys & Indians at 121 Christina St. N. The Sarnia man was found with unspecified injuries on College Avenue North, between Davis Street and Cromwell Street, the afternoon of August 30, 2020 after police were called to investigate an assault. Wilson was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Initially, three other people were also charged with second degree murder in Wilson's death. Charges against those three suspects were dropped in December of 2020.
Jackson Henry was also handed a 10-year weapons ban.
