OPP warn of increased motorcycle fatalities in 2024

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are encouraging all drivers to be alert and attentive when travelling on Ontario roads.

According to police, 36 motorcyclists have died on OPP-patrolled roads so far this year, compared to 23 fatalities at this time last year.

Of those deaths, half of them occurred in the last few weeks, 12 were in July, with five more happening in the first week of August.

"Excessive speed, loss of control, and improper passing are among the driver actions behind the crashes," police said. "Safe, attentive driving on the part of motorists is all it takes to prevent the senseless loss of life on roadways."
