A woman from Watford and a man from Brigden have both won six-digit prizes after playing separate lottery games.
Cathy Case of Watford won a Lotto 6/49 second prize worth $195,706.60 in the June 27 draw, by matching five numbers plus the bonus number.
The 53-year-old retired municipal employee said she's a regular player who uses birthdays, anniversaries and her kid’s hockey jersey numbers to pick her numbers.
“I couldn’t believe it! I tried it three or four times,” she said. “I probably looked strange standing there at the ticket checker for so long."
While the 53-year-old mother and grandmother said she doesn’t have any specific plans for her winnings, she said she hopes to take her whole family to a Toronto Blue Jays game in the near future.
The other Lambton County resident who took home a big money prize was Adam Martin of Brigden, who is $100,000 richer after winning with Instant Hot Card.
The 35-year-old engaged father of two said he returned to a store after being undercharged to repay the difference. While there he decided to buy an Instant ticket and found that his honesty had been repaid with interest.
“I didn’t even make it through the whole ticket when I noticed the win,” he said. “I pulled out my phone to check the ticket using the OLG Lottery App. When I confirmed the win, I didn’t know if I was going to have a heart attack or cry."
Martin said he was shaking when he told his family the news and attributed the win to his honesty.
“The fact that I got this ticket when going back to the store to pay for an item that I was undercharged for is a strong indicator that good things happen to good people,” he said, adding that he intends to use the winnings to pay bills and take care of his family.
