Global Donuts fully stocked for Paczki Tuesday

It's tough to say whether a new record will be set, nevertheless Global Donuts & Deli is ready to sell thousands of paczki this Shrove Tuesday.

Just over 2,000 dozen were sold in 2020.

"If we do anything close to that, it'll be great," said owner Gus Pantazis.

Bakers will be working all day at the local business, located on London Line. Pantazis said they have 12-hour shifts and will keep making paczki until sales start to slow down.

Pantazis said he's proud of his team for the hard work they put into these types of events.

"These guys are prepared to work around the clock," he said. "My staff up front, they are fantastic! When it comes down to the nitty-gritty, they put the best effort you could possibly get from anyone."

A popular flavour among Global Donuts' customers is custard. However, other available flavours include apple, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, cherry, lemon, and prune -- which is Pantazis' personal favourite.

"All of our jams are pure fruit jellies," he said. "We don't use the synthetic stuff so that makes a huge difference in the taste and the quality of the product."

Ahead of Fat Tuesday, Global Donuts was stocked with over 70 (50 pounds) bags of flour, 25 bags of glazing sugar, and about 60 cases of different types of jellies.

The Polish desserts will be available Wednesday as well.

"We don't sell as many as on Tuesday but they go pretty well. People are pretty happy that we have them for one more day."
